L Plates
L Plates

The label started in 2000, it embodies the simple concept of providing a launch pad for producers looking to make an impact on the drum and bass community.

Each debut artist is assigned a red 12” label to indicate a debut release; a green 12” label, to indicate the success and progress made by that producer, then precedes this. The idea being that the initial release delivered the goods and the rewards for the system have has showed good promise.

Breakthrough artists like Sonic and Silver and Baron, have all gone on to produce tracks for established labels like: Metalheadz, Commercial Suicide, CIA, TOV and Advanced.

Even the old skoolers like Ratty and Tango, Genotype, Eijay and Ruffstuff have appeared on L Plates. There are currently many artists on L Plates, and with it’s thirtieth release knocking on the door, the growing number of artists could double over the next 24 months, to provide a stockpile of fresh, ambitious faces to step into this scene.

Since the label first started one thing remains the same, L Plates has continued to search out the undiscovered talents of the drum and bass scene, giving the opportunity to expand and develop the skills needed by the producer.

The L Plates volumes are more than just your average label, it is an education. Those without the previous knowledge have gone on to develop their styles, going onto succeed with their own labels and with others too. The success of L Plates has provided many rewards for its management and it’s recruits, long may this continue
