South London's very own inta selecta, DJ Bailey,has become a bit of an institution in the current drum 'n' bass scene.A Major player on 1Xtra, a bona fide member of the Metalheadz crew, Intasound label boss and general don. In the late '80s, while most of us were busy wearing dodgy clothes and playing Pac Man, Bailey was taking his first steps down the path towards Drum and bass.
"I became bored with the mellower sounds of the hip hop scene, acts like 'A Tribe Called Quest', I wanted something tougher." This hankering led him through the flourishing acid house towards hardcore and rave.
During the early '90s Bailey hooked up with MC Flux, Grooverider, and the intanatty crew. Hosting his own show on Energy, FM his distinctive DJing floated across London's airwaves and into the ears of DJs Kemistry and Storm. The pair were so impressed with what they heard, they invited him to play, down at one of the first Metalheadz nights.
