Darien Prophecy
Darien Prophecy

Clive Darien A.K.A. DARIEN PROPHECY was born in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica. The youngest of four children he was brought up in a Methodist Church. He was 11 when he started singing in the church choir in Mandeville which used to perform at concerts around Jamaica. His mother used to sing around the house on Saturday mornings and you could hear her from far away which also inspired Clive to sing.

In high school as well playing drums and making music on the school desk Clive used to compete in DJ competitions with school friends in break time. He first sang with the Jamaican reggae backing band Step by Step when the Bellefield high school organized an end of year concert.

Garnet Silk was and still is Clive Dariens main inspiration; Bob Marley, Sizzla, Lij Amlak, Omar Silk, Luciano, Burning Spear, and Capleton also inspire his writing.
In 1994 Garnet Silk died in an accident. Thats when Garnets brothers Omar Silk and Lij Amlak moved next door to Clive in Mandeville. They soon became friends and started hanging out, writing songs together and going into the studio. They performed shows together backed by Step by Step around Jamaica singing the songs which Clive, Lij and Omar had written and always got good receptions from the audience. He used to get good advice from Omar and Lij. The songs that Clive was writing were always conscious, because of that Lij Amlak told him that a man like you with such conscious lyrics should be called Prophecy and that name has been with Clive ever since.

After a few years Lij and Omar moved and Clive started to concentrate on his work. He worked for a few years making furniture for a company in Mandeville. In 2002 Clives Grandmother whom he was very close to and cared for decided to return to the UK and asked Clive to come with her.

He met poet Jason Macka Babb from Trinidad who was living in Ipswich at the time. Jason invited Prophecy to sing on a track in a studio in Ipswich where he was introduced to Gordon Innerheart Mulrain, a producer who was in the studio playing bass on the track. After that he went on to perform with Jason around the UK performing at events like Black History Month Celebration, Stop the War campaign and IpArt festivals in Suffolk.

He met up with Gordon again after a while who asked Prophecy to rehearse with the Innerheart Band, a reggae backing band based in Ipswich and London.

After doing some shows together Prophecy went into Lost Toyz studio in Ipswich to start recording his debut album entitled Natural Vibes. His music is being played and respected around the globe and his live energetic performances have been going down a storm. He describes his songs as spiritual reggae, songs for the soul and his music is making a mark across the globe. His music being is being requested from UK, Europe to both sides of the USA.
