Whispering Knees formed in Spring 2003. The band draws influence from artists such as The Mars Volta, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, At The Drive-In, Oceansize, Blind Melon, Mansun, Biffy Clyro, Bjork, Longpigs plus many others creating a new and original sound. The band's intention was originally to offer something other than punk, metal & ska which are prominently the "scene" in Newbury. The band consists of Joe Lawrence (Vox, Guitar), Matty Mann (Bass), Tim Williams (Guitar, Vox), Tom Cox (Drums). The first recording we did was our self-produced "Angus EP" it was recorded at Joe's home studio in Summer 2003. Since then Whispering Knees have gigged regularly in and around Berkshire building up their reputation and developing a small fanbase. In September 2004 the band recorded with professional producer / sound engineer Jim Warren (Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Nine Inch Nails & Glastonbury). This was done at Keynote Studios in Burghfield under a management contract with L.O.A.D Media Productions. The band will also be playing professional venues across the country and hopefully a tour will be organized before the years end. As it stands the band are still playing local gigs awaiting the mastering and release of their EP.
